Dairy

We are well into our second year shipping milk to Hewitt's Dairy in Hagersville. We started out milking 32 does in 1999, and maintained that number until mid-winter and then we continued to milk on average 20-25 does through the 1999-2000 winter. We have expanded our herd throughout the year. We expect for 2001 we will hit the 100 mark freshening well over 150 does.

We currently are using a double 16 parlour with 12 milking units. It takes about 1 hour to actually milk all the girls including setup and cleanup.
